Obituary: Louise Hamilton

January 14, 1921 – September 11, 2020

Louise Hamilton, 99, of Bedford, passed away peacefully Friday, September 11, 2020, at StoneBridge Health Campus.

Born January 14, 1921, in Annapolis, Missouri, she was the daughter of Howell and May (Pyles) Loyd.  She married Reverend Mark Hamilton of Irvine, Kentucky, June 5, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri, and he preceded her in death June 21, 2003.  They were married 64 years.

Louise had been employed at JC Penney in Vincennes and attended the Momentum Community Church. Louise loved being the pastor’s wife.

Survivors include her daughter, Anita Marie Mayhugh of Bedford; granddaughters, Chiquita (Mark) Ewert of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Marquita (Ben) Romero of Ft. Collins, Colorado; five great grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandsons; twin sister, Marie Shaw of Collinsville, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents; husband; and siblings, Daisy Simpson, Paul Loyd, Herb Loyd, Bill  Loyd, Claude Loyd, and Everett Loyd, preceded her in death.

Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 19, at Mitchell Cemetery with Dr. Gary Pate, Reverend R. Duane Brown, and Reverend Ken Bushey officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. on Saturday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.

Memorial gifts can be made in Louise’s memory to the South Central Association of the Visually Impaired.
