Stars double down on Brownstown

BNL’s Cameron Gratzer combined with Konley Woodward for a deciding point at No.1 doubles as the Stars topped Brownstown on Thursday,

BROWNSTOWN – Bedford North Lawrence swept the doubles en route to a 3-2 victory over Brownstown during boys high school tennis action on Thursday.

BNL’s Konley Woodward and Cameron Gratzer won the deciding point at No.1 doubles as the Stars improved to 8-5.

Woodward and Gratzer battled back in the third set to claim a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 triumph over Reece Carlin and Griffin Stidam.

“They started out great, looked really good, then went away for a while,” BNL coach Donnie Thomas said. “They come back and finished strong.

“That was a good win overall. They beat us last year and didn’t lose a whole lot from that team.”

BNL’s Caleb Jones and Nate Pemberton conquered Cole Shasteen and Grant Elliott 6-4, 6-4 at No.2 doubles, while Graham Turner topped Connor Gwin 6-1, 6-1 at No.3 singles.

The Braves took the top two singles matches as Ethan Isaacs swept past Adam Tlustek 6-0, 6-0 at No.1, and Ethan Davis downed Steven Graham 6-1, 6-1 at No.2.

BNL will compete in the Edgewood Invitational on Saturday,
