Bloomington Police Department Investigating Homicide

(BLOOMINGTON) – The Bloomington Police Department is investigating a shooting at an apartment complex on the south side of the city.

One victim died as a result of the shooting, according to Bloomington Police Captain Ryan Pedigo.

On July 22 at approximately 11:25 p.m., officers from the Bloomington Police Department responded to an apartment complex in the 3200 block of South Walnut Springs Drive in reference to a call of a man shot in a parking lot.

The caller reported that the man was lying in a pool of blood and appeared to be unresponsive. Officers arrived on the scene and located 28-year-old Thomas M. Pleasant, Jr., of Bloomington. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the neck.

Officers immediately began CPR until the arrival of an ambulance. Pleasant was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. He died at the hospital at 12:18 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives are currently attempting to locate possible witnesses for interviews.
