Fifth City Of Bloomington Employee Diagnosed With COVID-19

(BLOOMINGTON) – A fifth employee of the City of Bloomington has received a positive result of a COVID-19 viral test. The City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) Transmission and Distribution employee received the positive test result Monday, July 13. Having self-isolated since first experiencing symptoms on Tuesday, July 7, the employee has been placed on paid leave to recover.

An internal contact tracing process has identified coworkers with whom the employee recently interacted and who may have been exposed to COVID-19 as a result, and is implementing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines to monitor and protect their health and prevent further viral transmission.  The facilities, vehicles, and equipment that the employee came into contact with are being thoroughly decontaminated, and department employees are being reminded of protocols in place to limit spread.  As the employee rarely interacts with members of the public in the course of their work, it has been ascertained that members of the public were not placed at risk of exposure by this employee.

The City of Bloomington is committed to sharing information about how its operations and workforce are affected by this public health emergency, and will continue to provide updates about confirmed cases among staff while protecting employees’ privacy.
