(BEDFORD) – The North Lawrence Community School Board approved 20 contract bus routes Thursday night. The average daily bid for the route was $205 and the average yearly cost is $37,057.32.
According to Superintendent Dr. Ty Mungle, there is a possibility that two more contract routes or drivers could be added. This will be based on the length of routes or the number of students.
The school board also approved the purchase of eight school buses from school bus drivers that did not have their contracts renewed.
Questions were raised by board members about the age of the buses. Some buses are more than 20 years old.
“These buses will be either parted out, or some kept for reserves. However, none of these buses will be used full time,” said Dr. Mungle. “The school corporation has about $2,000 to $3,000 worth of equipment on those buses.”

- Shelia Donica – Shawswick 17 – $210
- Lisa Jean – Shawswick 18 – $214
- Tom Spreen – Parkview 6 – $215
