(BARTHOLOMEW CO.) – Milestone Contractors are scheduled to begin beam setting operations next week over I-65 at Carr Hill Road in Bartholomew County (south of Columbus) as part of a superstructure replacement project that began in February.
Beginning Thursday evening (May 28), intermittent stoppages will take place on I-65 while concrete beams are placed over the interstate. Stoppages will last up to 20 minutes at a time. Southbound traffic will be stopped Thursday and Friday (May 28-29), and northbound the following Monday and Tuesday (June 1-2), weather permitting. Work is scheduled between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. each night into the early morning.
Overnight lane closures will be in place the week following beam setting to install deck pans prior to pouring the concrete bridge deck. Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route or allow extra travel time to avoid delays.
Carr Hill Road will remain closed until the project is completed in mid-July. The official detour route follows Terrace Lake Road to Goeller Blvd. to S.R. 46. Following completion of Carr Hill Road, crews will move to C.R. 200 S. over I-65. The entire contract is expected to be complete by late November.
Motorists should slow down, use extra caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones. All work is weather dependent.
