Two Injured In Motorcycle Accident Saturday Afternoon

(MITCHELL) – Two people were injured after the motorcycle struck a vehicle Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Yockey Road and Dixie Highway.

The accident was reported at 4:59 p.m.

According to a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, 47-year-old Christopher Moore, of Mitchell, was driving his 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on Dixie Highway with his passenger Stacey Moore.

As they approached the intersection, 25-year-old Lisa Helm, of Harrodsburg, who was traveling west on Yockey Road, pulled into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the rear passenger side of Helm’s 2015 Chevrolet Equinox.

Helm told police she didn’t see the motorcycle because a pole was blocking her view.

The impact caused Moore to lose control of the motorcycle and it struck a tree on the northside of the road.

Both Moore and his passenger were transported by ambulance to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
