Health Commissioner Reminds Hoosiers Importance Of Following Safety Guidelines As State Reopens

(UNDATED) – Indiana Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box is reminding Hoosiers to follow COVID-19 safety precautions as Indiana reopens.

Dr. Box says the only reason Indiana can start to reopen – and stay reopened – is changed behaviors.

“We’ve stayed home, especially when you’re sick. We’re disinfecting surfaces more and more; we’re washing our hands. We’ve avoided large groups,” Dr. Box says. “And we have to keep doing that.”

Dr. Box emphasizes the importance of wearing a mask when outside the home.

She added the “new normal” will look different – but it’s safer.

Dr. Box does not recommend wearing gloves when out in public – it gives a false sense of security. She says frequent hand washing is more effective.
