Steven Eugene Carter, 66, of Mitchell, formerly of Orleans, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020, at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born June 25, 1953, in Bedford, he was the son of Robert and Rose Marie (Jones) Carter. He married Debra J. Edwards April 18, 1975.
Steven was an Eagle Scout and coached girls softball teams in Orleans. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1972.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Carter of Bedford; son, Joel (Whittini Brewer) Carter of Orleans; daughter, Alisha Goodwine of Bedford; mother and stepfather, Rose and James Gentry of Mitchell; grandchildren, Zoey Goodwine, Sydney Goodwine, and Griffin Carter; sister, Diana Bollhorst of Mitchell; half-sister, Tararae Watts of Paoli; step-sisters, Jody Faulconer of Paoli, Dawn Briscoe of Oolitic, Tonya Higgins of Seminole, Florida, Toni Blackmore of Scotland; step-brothers, Barry Roach of Orleans, Brian Roach of Bedford
His father and brothers, Robert Carter, Jerry Carter, and Danny Carter, preceded him in death.
Family graveside service was Wednesday, May 6, at Liberty Baptist Cemetery. Pastor Dwight Dunbar officiated.
Arrangements were entrusted to Haverly Funeral Chapel.
