(MITCHELL) – Mitchell Police officers arrested two people after they were found with meth during a traffic stop.
On Saturday night, police arrested 40-year-old Crystal True, of 4222 South Leatherwood Rd., on charges of possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, and on a warrant for failure to appear. She was also issued a citation for driving while her driver’s license was suspended.
Her passenger, 34-year-old Austin Perry, of 325 Heltonville Rd., was arrested on charges of possession of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia
On Saturday, around 9:44 p.m. a Mitchell police officer was on patrol traveling east on Main Street when he noticed an SUV with only one tail light working. He stopped the vehicle at the intersection of 8th and Main streets.
During the traffic stop, officers learned the driver (True) was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear and her driver’s license had been suspended.Â
She was arrested. Officers then spoke with Austin Perry, who is the owner of the vehicle and a passenger at the time of the traffic stop. Police say Perry was intoxicated. He too had a suspended driver’s license.
Officers called a tow truck to the scene.
Austin then asked if he was free to leave and he sat on the sidewalk waiting for a friend to pick him up.
Police conducted an inventory of the vehicle and found a smoking pipe in a backpack that had meth in it. Both denied owning the backpack.
