Obituary: James L. “Sonny” Pruett

January 4, 1940 – April 21, 2020

James L. “Sonny” Pruett, 80, formally of Shoals, passed away in Bloomington on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.

He was born January 4, 1940, in Muncie to Lawson and Inez (Baker) Pruett. He married Sue McRoberts on April 23, 1966, in Odon, IN.

He was a graduate of Williams High School, retired from Crane Army Ammunition Activity with thirty- two years of service was a wedding photographer and operated a woodworking shop. He was a member of the Shoals Christian Church, was a 32nd Degree Mason and Past Master of the White River Lodge #332 in Shoals, a member of the Shoals American Legion, Shoals V.F.W. and was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife Sue Pruett of Bloomington; one son, Mike (Maria) Pruett of Montgomery; one daughter, Tonya (Roger) Pruett Becker of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Damon, Courtney and Makenna Pruett of Montgomery, Rylee and Raylan Becker of Bloomington; one brother Charles “Broz” Pruett of Shoals; one sister, Mary Jane Allbright of Shoals; and one uncle, Charles Pruett of Shoals.

Private services will be held with burial in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
