
(BLOOMFIELD) – A Heltonville woman is facing felony charges of driving a vehicle while intoxicated.

According to a Greene County Sheriff’s Department report, 47-year-old Rebecca Haagsma-Swalls was driving a vehicle with a blood-alcohol level of 0.22 percent. The legal limit is 0.08.
Haagsma-Swails was arrested following a traffic stop on State Road 45, north of Shady Meadows around 11:42 p.m. on Thursday, March 26th after police received information about a vehicle “all over the roadway” stopping and turning headlights off and on and driving with a turn signal on but never turning.
Police say Haagsma-Swails exhibited numerous signs of being impaired and failed field sobriety tests.
Haagsma-Swails was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, OWI endangerment, OWI with a blood-alcohol level of 0.15 percent or greater, and OWI with a prior conviction.
She posted an $800 bond on March 30th and was released from jail.
She is scheduled to appear in court for an initial hearing in Greene Superior Court on April 30th at 8:30 a.m.
