Salem Man Arrested on Drug Charges

(SALEM) – A Salem man was arrested after police say they found numerous drugs in his vehicle.

Salem Police arrested 33-year-old Anthony Adkins on charges of possession of a narcotic drug and driving a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license with a prior conviction.

Police stopped a red Ford Ranger driven by Adkins after report of a suspicious vehicle traveling westbound on West Market Street.

Police stopped the truck after noticing it had a headlight out.

During the traffic stop, Adkins appeared to be trembling and nervous.

Adkins claimed he had just purchased the vehicle and the title was at home and he had no proof of insurance with him. The plates on the vehicle belonged to a green 1993 Chevrolet truck. Police learned Adkins was driving on a suspended driver’s license.

While officers were speaking to Adkins, K-9 Ranger alerted police to possible drugs in the truck

Police found 62.5 grams of cocaine, and several narcotic pills not prescribed to Adkins

During the book-in process, a jailer found a bag of cocaine in Adkin’s boot.
