(INDIANAPOLIS) —The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) today reported 23 new positive cases of COVID-19. This brings the number of Hoosiers diagnosed to 79. The tests are hosted through ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and private laboratories.

Two Hoosiers have died. According to ISDH 554 people have been tested for the virus.

The new cases involve residents of Allen (1), Boone (1), Floyd (1), Grant (1), Hamilton (3), Johnson (1), Lake (2), Marion (6), Shelby (1), St. Joseph (3), Tippecanoe (1), Vanderburgh (1) and Vigo (1) counties.

State officials reported late Thursday a new case in Owen County.

IU Health Bloomington Hospital did release staff internal communication regarding the admittance of a patient to the hospital that would begin to receive treatment for the virus. The hospital is taking all the necessary safety protocols and the patient is being treated by the hospital’s infection prevention specialist.
