Obituary: Elizabeth Lea Craig

September 10, 1940 – February 3, 2020

Elizabeth Lea Craig, 79, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020, at her residence.

Born September 10, 1940, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Henry and Reba (Baker) Raines. She married Ailais Craig, Jr. on March 24, 1959, and he preceded her in death on October 8, 1996. She retired from RCA and a member of the House of Prayer Church in Fayetteville where she taught Sunday School for many years.

Survivors include a son, Mark Craig, and wife, Sheila; two daughters, Connie Douglas and husband, Kenneth, and Carla Banks, all of Bedford; grandchildren, Craig Douglas, Misty Staggs, Cody Douglas, and wife, Tatom, Leyton Craig, and wife, Kalgary, and Bayley Craig; great-grandchildren, Abigail Douglas, Emily Douglas, Kreed Douglas, Rhettlee Douglas, Daniel Simmons, Jr., Henry Craig, and Jackson Craig; two brothers, Harold and Charles Raines, both of Bedford; four sisters, Geraldine Dunn, Betty McGill, Sue Murphy, and Lorena New, all of Bedford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Wendell, Donald, and Bill Raines; two sisters, Margaret Raines and Martha Bolton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 8th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor John Wisley officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, February 7th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
