“We will be at Priceless IGA next weekend selling cookies, trying to meet our goal for this year’s fundraiser,” Jacqueline Lyons stated.

On Sunday, the girl scouts were meeting and greeting customers passing by, trying to persuade them in purchasing a box.

Girl Scouts of Central Indiana has launched the 2020 Girl Scout Cookie season to help local girls become hands-on entrepreneurs as they earn money to power their own leadership opportunities and adventures.

This year, Girl Scouts are adding a brand-new cookie to the iconic lineup. Lemon-Ups are a crispy, lemon cookie baked with messages inspired by Girl Scout entrepreneurs.

“I am a go-getter” and “I am an innovator” are among the eight phrases that bring the experience of Girl Scouting to life.

Also, new this year, Girl Scouts is introducing refreshed cookie packaging with updated images featuring current Girl Scouts taking part in a diverse range of experiences available to members – from adventure-packed camping and canoeing to exploring space science and designing robots, to taking action to improve their communities.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program helps girls discover their inner leadership potential as they have fun learning essential skills like goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics.

The girls then use their earnings to power amazing experiences for themselves and their troop, including travel, outdoor adventure, and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programming.

“Money that Girl Scouts earn during the Girl Scout Cookie Program, stays in their local communities,” said Girl Scouts of Central Indiana CEO Danielle Shockey. “By purchasing a box of cookies, you are helping girls right here in Central Indiana grow into incredible future leaders.”

Girl Scouts cookie delivery to customers began January 22, and cookies will be sold at booths in front of supermarkets and other local retailers and financial institutions through mid-March. The cost is only $5 per package for all Girl Scout Cookie varieties.
