Stars split meets with Wildcats

BEDFORD – Bedford North Lawrence won 9 events while powering to a 97-89 victory over sectional rival Jasper during boys high school swimming action on Saturday.

The Wildcats won the girls meet 112-68.

Dayson Sorrells and Andrew Swenson were double winners for the Stars. Sorrells claimed the 200-yard individual medley in 2:09.69 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.24. Swenson touched first in the 100 butterfly (53.58) and the 100 backstroke (59.61).

John Allen won the 200 freestyle in 2:00.02, Jacob Werley took the 50 free in 22.19, and Skyler Bates won the diving with 221.80 points.

The Stars also won two relays as Swenson, Sorrells, Werley and Alexander Swenson combined to clock 1:41.54 in the 200 medley relay. Allen joined Sorrells, Werley and Andrew Swenson to post 1:30.65 in the 200 free relay.

In the girls meet, the Stars had four winners. Kaitlyn Hackney was first home in the 50 free in 26.73, Ursula Patton took the 100 free in 58.77, and Shaylee Summers won the 100 backstroke in 1:08.94.

BNL won the 200 medley relay as Summers, Georgia Sites, Patton and Shelby Slaughter clocked 2:08.71.

The Stars will return to action on Jan. 9 when they host Columbus East.
