(MITCHELL) – A 29-year-old Mitchell man died from injuries he suffered Wednesday night after the car he was working on fell off the jack on top of him.
Mitchell Police officers and first responders were alerted to the accident at just before 9 p.m. in the 500 block of Fifth Street.
Cody Roberts was working on a vehicle in a shed when his girlfriend saw the vehicle fall from the jack and land on top of him. She called 911 seeking emergency assistance.
Mitchell police, the Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department and an ambulance responded to the scene. First responders borrowed a jack from a neighbor and got the vehicle off Roberts.
A medical helicopter landed at the Mitchell High School soccer field but Roberts died from his injuries before he could be transported.
