Several Honored at Monroe County School Board Meeting

(BLOOMINGTON) – Several individuals were spotlighted during the School of Board Trustees meeting on Tuesday evening.

Congratulations to Monte Simonton, Social Worker at University Elementary School, on receiving the Equity Spotlight Award.

Monte dedicates himself to building relationships with students at University and has had a positive impact, particularly in education and prevention of bullying.

The City of Bloomington Commission on the Status of Children and Youth awarded the commission’s fourth annual SWAGGER Awards to area youth.

The 2019 SWAGGER winners are Weston Harris a 4th grader at Templeton, Teagan Hanna an 8th grader at Tri-North, and Alexandra Daley a 2nd grader at Clear Creek and South Senior Naomi Young.

Congratulations to Kaleb Wager, Social Studies teacher at Jackson Creek. Kaleb received the Outstanding Future Educator Award in Social Studies from Indiana Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. This award recognizes academic performance, professional promise, leadership, and commitment to education.
