Caucus Set to Replace McCracken On Town Council

(ORLEANS) – The Orange County Republican Central Committee will hold a Caucus Dec. 2nd to fill the vacancy for the Orleans Town Council Ward 1 seat created by the recent resignation of Mike McCracken. His resignation will go into effective Dec. 5th.

McCracken was re-elected to serve a second term on the council earlier this year but has since moved out of the corporate limits, making him ineligible to serve.

“I have very much enjoyed serving the citizens of the town over the past few years and will greatly miss having the opportunity to continue to do so. I grew up in Orleans, and we have lived in town since returning from Indianapolis in 1985. It is truly a great and exceptional community, and it has been an honor and a pleasure to serve.” McCracken said in his resignation letter.

The Caucus will be at 4:30 p.m. at the Orleans Town Hall, at 161 East Price Avenue.

Interested Republican candidates in good standing must file a notarized declaration of candidacy (State Form CEB-5) found on the Secretary of State website at http//www.in.gov/sos/ and submit a letter of interest to Orange County Republican Chairman Jack Hinkle, Jr., 8538 W. US Hwy. 150 West Baden, IN 47469  or presented in person before 4:30 p.m., Friday, November 29, in order to be eligible to be considered for the vacancy.

No candidates’ forms will be accepted after the deadline.
