Extra Police Presence Expected Monday For Mitchell Schools

(MITCHELL) – The Mitchell Police Department has been working diligently around the clock to obtain the identity of the person or persons who made threats towards children in the Mitchell School System.

Officers have been in contact with Indiana State Police Cyber Crimes Division, as well as multiple social media platforms. The Mitchell Police Department has obtained a search warrant for social media records and is looking for this case to be resolved soon.

Officers have been working with the Mitchell Community School Administration and plan to have an increased police presence in and around the schools until this issue can be resolved.

In a statement from the Mitchell Police Department – “Safety and security of our community is always our priority. While are those who wish to unnecessarily and irresponsibly incite fear and apprehension among others the Mitchell Police Department will do it all can ensure the safety of our community.”

All citizens and students are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious behavior immediately.

Anyone with information relating to the identity of the subject or subjects who originated the threats is encouraged to contact the Mitchell Police Department immediately.
