(BEDFORD) – A Bedford woman was arrested after Bedford Police officers were alerted to a child left unattended in a vehicle in the 1400 block of 8th Street Friday at 11:28 p.m.
“When officers arrived they spoke with a witness who stated he noticed the child in the car for approximately 20 minutes with no adults around,” says Bedford Police Chief Terry Moore. “Officers located the mother of the 1-year-old child visiting with a friend. She told the officers she had lost track of time.”
Police say the mother 31-year-old Kasey Browning, of 406 22nd St., showed the usual signs of being intoxicated.
Browning was arrested on charges of neglect of a dependent, possession of meth, and possession of a Schedule III controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after police found the drugs and other items in a backpack that Browning was carrying.
The child was released to a family member.
