(HELTONVILLE) – A coordinated effort between Lawrence County 9-1-1 dispatchers and Pleasant Run Fire Department helped an elderly man who was lost in the woods Saturday afternoon.
Around 1:16 p.m. Saturday, Lawrence County 9-1-1 dispatchers received a call from a 72-year old male who got lost in the woods on McPike Branch Road north of Heltonville.
“The 9-1-1 dispatchers used GPS coordinates from the 9-1-1 call and three firefighters using their GPS, as well as using a siren from the fire truck, helped firefighters locate him,” said Chad Hillenburg of Pleasant Run Fire Department.
The man was uninjured and it took firefighters less than an hour to locate him. The fire department was pleased that this incident was resolved quickly.
