Completion of State Road 39 Bridge over Highland Creek Delayed until Nov. 23

(MORGAN CO.) – Completion of the State Road 39 bridge replacement project that began in July over a Branch of Highland Creek in Morgan County has been delayed until Saturday, November 23, weather permitting. The project was originally scheduled to be completed by October 31.

Progress continues on the State Road 39 bridge over Highland Creek in Morgan County.

In September, crews encountered rock layers higher than project plans indicated, which required additional coring and plan adjustments. Progress resumed in late September and crews are currently completing permanent erosion control operations, installing reinforcing steel on the bridge deck and preparing bridge approaches.

State Road 39 will remain closed between the north junction of State Road 67 and State Road 142 until project completion. The official detour for the closure remains State Road 67 to State Road 42 in Mooresville.
