Seymour Police Investigating Stabbing

(SEYMOUR) – Seymour Police are looking for two men that entered a home early this morning, demanded money and then stabbed the male resident twice.

Acting Police Chief Craig Hayes said officers were alerted to the incident at 3:45 a.m.

Officer Kevin Settle and Detective Sgt. Greg O’Brien responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Hillcrest Drive and found 40-year-old Joseph Sizemore had been stabbed in his right leg and the right side of his stomach.

Sizemore said someone knocked on his door and he opened it. Two males at the door and demanded Sizemore pay them the money he owed them.

The men struck Sizemore and during the encounter he was stabbed.

A witness in the house confirmed Sizemore’s account.

Sizemore was transported to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour and airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, where he remained this afternoon with non-life-threatening injuries.

Although Sizemore told police he didn’t know his attackers, he did tell police he did owe someone money.

Police are attempting to locate the two men involved and do have some leads.
