Columbus Man Arrested Following Pursuit

(COLUMBUS) – A Columbus man is in custody after he fled from Columbus police officers during a traffic stop on Saturday afternoon.

Shortly after 2 p.m., Columbus Police officers attempted to stop a vehicle for an expired license plate near 7th Street and Chestnut streets.

The driver of the vehicle, later identified as 43-year-old Marlon Cowan Jr., of Columbus, refused to stop and quickly turned into the nearby north/south alley. Cowan continued driving in the alley and later exited his vehicle near the 500 block of 8th Street and began running on foot.

Cowan ran into a nearby residence where he was located a short time later and arrested. He was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on the following preliminary charges including resisting law enforcement, a Level 6 felony, resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor and driving while his driver’s license was suspended with a prior conviction, a Class A misdemeanor.
