City of Bloomington Utilities Issues Precautionary Boil Water Advisory for East Dixie Street

(BLOOMINGTON) City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) crews are repairing a water main break at the intersection of E Dixie Street and S Grant St.

27 residences were disconnected from water service early Monday morning.

Those customers will be under a precautionary Boil Water Advisory when water service is restored; it is anticipated that water will be back on by noon.

Unless otherwise notified, the precautionary Boil Water Advisory will be lifted at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15. The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) requires all public water systems to issue a Boil Water Advisory when the pressure drops below 20 psi in the water main.

Those affected should follow the instructions below:

  • Immediately after your normal water pressure is restored, run COLD water from a sink or tub until clear water flows from the faucet.
  • Boil drinking water for at least 5 minutes prior to consumption.
  • It is recommended that all water used for drinking, cooking, and oral hygiene be brought to a full boil for FIVE minutes. It is not necessary to boil water for other uses.

Please see the City of Bloomington Utilities website at bloomington.in.gov/utilities for a list of affected addresses; those homes also were notified via a door tag. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the City of Bloomington Utilities at 812-339-1444.
