Police Looking for Shoals Man who Escaped House Arrests

(SHOALS) – Martin County Sheriff’s Department deputies are looking for a Shoals man who cut off his house arrest GPS tracking ankle bracelet and fled his home. As of Sunday night, he had not been found.

On Friday, around 6:05 a.m., Martin County Sheriff deputies received information from Martin County Community Corrections that they received an alarm that 56-year-old James “Mike” Hert had tampered with his ankle monitor.

Deputies went to Hert’s home in Shoals and found the ankle bracelet in the yard and observed that Hert had fled his home.

Hert was on house arrested after a charge of possession of meth.

James “Mike” Hert is a 56-year-old white male with brown hair and green eyes. He is 6 feet tall and around 170 pounds.
