Bedford Teen Arrested After Stealing Vehicle

(BEDFORD) – A Bedford teen was arrested Friday after Bedford Police officers spotted him driving the wrong way on a one-way Street Friday.

Officers attempted to stop the driver at 17th and M streets at 1 a.m.

Bedford Police Chief Terry Moore says that the officer attempted to stop the vehicle by activating his emergency lights and the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed for several blocks before losing control of the vehicle and spinning out next to an embankment.

“Officers removed the male from the vehicle and found out he did not have a driver’s license,” Chief Moore added.  “Officers located the registered vehicle owner who did not give permission for the male to drive it and wanted to report the vehicle stolen.”

The male was transported to a medical facility for treatment of minor injuries from crashing the vehicle and issued a summons to appear in court on charges of auto theft, resisting arrest, unlicensed driver, and issued a citation for speeding.
