Bloomington Police Investigating Fatal Accident

(BLOOMINGTON) – Bloomington Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that happened today at approximately 11:44 a.m.

Officers and emergency crews were summoned to Walnut Street just south of the intersection of 3rd Street regarding a crash involving a female pedestrian and a Bloomington Transit bus.

Upon the arrival of first responders, the pedestrian was determined to be deceased.

The involved bus had just departed from the downtown Bloomington Transit terminal. 

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by crash reconstructionists from the department.

Investigators are attempting to determine if any nearby cameras or cameras mounted on the involved bus captured any video of the crash.

There is no foul play suspected.

Walnut Street was closed to traffic from approximately 11:45 a.m. and reopened at approximately 1 p.m.

The name and age of the pedestrian will not be released until the Monroe County Coroner’s Office can make notification to next of kin.

No further information will be released at this time.
