
(BEDFORD) – The Bedford Parks Department Board met on Tuesday afternoon, giving updates on various projects throughout the parks system.

Park Director Barry Jeskewich reports that asphalt has been laid on the walkway between John Lowery Municipal Pool and Beech Grove Cemetery. In addition, a lot of clean-up and maintenance was done this year at Beech Grove Cemetery.
This Saturday, the United Way of Caring will be held with volunteers doing a lot of clean-up and landscaping around the pool.
Crews were able to get overgrowth, and clean-up around the banks of Brookside Park, located off Tunnelton Road.

IU Health Employees Day of Service helped get the Milwaukee Trail ready for the Butch Fish Dam Run & Bike Event. Also, helping was Kelli Storms and her crew.
The event was a success, with 46 runners and 10 bikers participating in the event. Money raised will help complete projects at Murray Forest Park.
Golf Pro Report
The Bedford North Lawrence High School Golf Team will compete in their sectional qualifier Saturday at Otis Park Golf Course. They hope to claim their 7th sectional title. Come out and support the Lady Stars. Tee times begin at 8 a.m.
The Claude Akins Tournament was successful, hosting a total of 108 teams which is a record number for the event.
The annual Superintendent’s Revenge Golf Scramble will be Saturday, October 12th at Otis Park. A shotgun start will begin at 10 a.m. Registration is limited to the first 25 teams.
Couples night is Friday’s at Otis Park. Officials have had two couple’s nights with three more scheduled. Last Friday 18 couples competed. Officials are hopefully, the weather will cooperate and draw a crowd for this Friday.
