73-Year-Old Drives to ISP Post, Goes Over Concrete Curb, Charged with OWI

(BLOOMINGTON) – Just before midnight on Friday, a 73-year-old woman was arrested after she drove her car over a concrete curb at the Indiana State Police Post in Bloomington causing the car to hang freely over a steep ledge.

Trooper Sam Wagner arrived on the scene and found the driver Patricia Ann Ritzenthaler, of Bloomington, intoxicated.

Ritzenthaler was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating with a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 percent or greater.

She was remanded into the custody of the Monroe County Sheriff.

Troopers encourage all motorists to call 911 or the closest Indiana State Police Post when they observe another motorist that may be impaired. Please be prepared to give a description of the vehicle, location, and direction of travel.
