Two Injured in Accident in Brownstown

(BROWNSTOWN) – A man and a child were injured in a two-vehicle wreck Wednesday at the intersection of Main and Commerce streets in Brownstown.

According to a Brownstown Police report, 49-year-old Michael Bush, of Freetown was transported to Schneck Medical Center and was released.

A child in Bush’s vehicle suffered a head injury and was flown by helicopter to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. The child was treated for minor injuries and released.

According to police, 65-year-old Connie Hiatt, of Brownstown, was traveling south on Main Street and told police she entered the intersection on the green light. When she did her Chevrolet Traverse was struck by Bush’s Pontiac G6. She told police she couldn’t avoid the accident.

Bush told police he was traveling west on Commerce Street and he had the green light, and when he entered the intersection, his vehicle was struck on the passenger side. He too told police he could not avoid the collision.

Witnesses at the scene gave police conflicting reports on what happened. The accident remains under investigation.
