IDEM Gives Lehigh Cement Co. Green Light for Construction of New Production Facility

(MITCHELL) – The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has given Lehigh Cement Co. the green light to modify operations as it gears up to construct of a new production facility.

IDEM granted Lehigh an air permit modification to construct and operate a new cement kiln system and material handling equipment at their current plant.

The company will now invest $600 million in a new state-of-the-art production facility in Mitchell take officials say will allow the plant to produce 2.8 million tons while reducing energy usage and emissions per ton of cement produced.

The expansion will allow the company to hire 52 new full-time employees.
