Two Injured Monday in Accident on 16th Street

(BEDFORD) – Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on 16th Street on Monday afternoon.

According to a Bedford Police report, 62-year-old Terry Deckard, of Bedford, was in the northern lane of 16th Street traveling east on a 2007 Honda VTX motorcycle.

At the same time 61-year-old Pamela Huff, of Winslow, was pulling her 2017 Ram 1500 pickup out of the parking lot of Walgreens into the southern lane to travel east on 16th Street.

Huff told police she realized she needed to turn north onto L Street and at the last minute proceeded to do so. Huff told police she did not see Deckard’s motorcycle.

Deckard told police when Huff changed lanes in front of him he had to lay his motorcycle down to avoid a collision with the pickup.

Deckard who was pinned under the motorcycle suffered internal chest injuries.

His passenger 60-year-old Margaret Deckard complained of elbow and lower arm pain.

Both were transported by ambulance to IU Health Bedford Hospital for treatment.
