Shoals Man Seriously Injured in Crash on US 150

(SHOALS) – A Shoals man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on US 150 at the intersection of Boyd Hollow Road near Shoals on Wednesday morning.

Around 10:18 a.m., the Martin County Sheriff’s Department received several 911 calls reporting the accident.

Maj. Keith Keller, Chief Deputy Josh Greene, Deputy Johnathan Wells, Indiana Conservation Officer Tony Mann, Martin County EMS, the Shoals Volunteer Fire Department, and Air Evac responded to the crash.

According to police, 59-year-old Alan Stone, of Shoals, was traveling southeast on US 150 approaching Boyd Hollow Road and on a 2014 TAO moped. At the same time 54-year-old Kevin Montgomery, of Summerville, South Carolina, was southeast on US 150 behind Stone.

Due to Stone traveling slow on US 150, Montgomery began to pass Stone’s moped. As Montgomery was starting to pass, Stone began to turn left onto Boyd Hollow Road. Montgomery’s 2011 Ford F-350 collided with Stone’s moped. The impact threw Stone from the moped.

Stone was transported from the scene by Martin County EMS to a landing zone in Shoals. Air Evac 17 then transported Stone, who had serious injuries, to the University of Louisville Hospital.

US 150 was closed to one lane of traffic for approximately an hour and a half while the crash was investigated.
