Two Injured in Accident on State Road 37 and Fifth Street

(BEDFORD) – Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of State Road 37 and Fifth Street on Tuesday.

According to a Bedford Police report, 33-year-old Heather Hobbs, of Paoli, who was driving a 2007 Pontiac Torrent, was slowing for a red light at the intersection.

Behind her was a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic driven by 17-year-old Madison Jean, of Springville.

Jean told police she was distracted and was looking in her rear-view mirror watching an accident that happened behind her. She told police she was not aware traffic had stopped moving and collided into the rear of Hobbs’ Torrent.

Hobbs and Jean were not injured. Two passengers in Hobbs’ vehicle were.

36-year-old Anthony Gilliland, of Paoli, complained of back pain. A 10-year-old in the vehicle complained of chest pain following the incident. Both were transported by ambulance to IU Health Hospital for treatment.
