Bedford Man Arrested After Found Slumped Over In Driver’s Seat

(BEDFORD) – A Bedford man was arrested after Bedford Police Department received a call about an unresponsive man slumped over in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the parking lot of Chase Bank.

When officers arrived just before 3 p.m. Tuesday, they found 61-year-old Stanley Watterson.

BPD Chief Terry Moore says officers found a clear glass smoking device with a burnt crystal-like substance inside on Watterson’s lap.

“Before Mr. Watterson could exit the vehicle he had to be told to put the vehicle in park,” Chief Moore added. “Mr.¬†Watterson demonstrated usual signs of intoxication and was handcuffed. Officers located a baggie containing a crystal-like substance, which field tested positive for meth in his pocket and inside the vehicle along with drug paraphernalia.”

Watterson agreed to submit to a chemical blood test and was taken to a local hospital for that test. The results are pending.

Watterson was arrested on charges of possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
