(BICKNELL) – A husband and wife are both dead after a head-on collision Wednesday afternoon on State Road 159, north of Bicknell.
According to an Indiana State Police’s news release, John and Rita Buck of Freelandville, both 71, were traveling north on State Road 159 near Brocksmith Road when a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Joshua Roark crossed the center line and hit the Bucks’ Jeep head-on.
The crash happened at about 4:35 p.m.
Investigators have yet to determine why Roark’s vehicle crossed the center line.
John and Rita Buck were pronounced dead at the scene. Roark, of Vincennes, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville for treatment.
The road was closed for nearly three hours while ISP officers investigated, and the investigation is ongoing.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Department, Knox County Coroner’s Office, Knox County EMS, Bicknell police and fire and Vigo Township Fire assisted.
