Bloomington Police Investigate Rape, Male Questioned

(BLOOMINGTON) – A 27-year-old woman reported she was raped Saturday night in the 1800 block of West Third Street in Bloomington.

Bloomington Police officers were alerted to the rape at 11:25 p.m. Saturday night.

The transient woman told police she was raped in the wooded area near the American Legion.

She says she was drinking with her friend and another man but was intoxicated and couldn’t remember specific details. She said she woke up to a man assaulting her in a tent before jumping up and running away. She couldn’t tell police if it was the same man she had been drinking with but told police she suspects it was. She didn’t know the man’s name.

She described the male as 5 feet 9 inches tall and in his early 40s with a medium build, dark hair and a salt and pepper goatee. She was able to able to identify the male in a photo line up.

Police were able to locate the 43-year-old male and brought him to the station for questioning. He admitted to drinking with the two women but denied anything sexual happened.
