(PORTAGE) – Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the apparent drowning of Scott Andrew Tharp, 59, of Gary. Tharp has been missing from the Miller Beach area since February 11, 2019.
On May 31, 2019, a recreational boater found a body near the Portage Lakefront Park and immediately contacted emergency personnel.
An autopsy was conducted today by the Porter County Coroner’s Office. The identity of Tharp was confirmed along with the preliminary cause of death to be drowning.
The family of the deceased has been notified.
Indiana Conservation Officers along with the Gary Police Department are working on the investigation.
