The Duck Derby and Belly Buster contest are Saturday, May 18 at John Lowery Municipal Pool from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Admission is free. Those attending can purchase a meal of a hamburger and coke for $5.
The fundraiser will help with the many programs, facilities, and operations of club including after-school programs in Bedford, Mitchell, and Needmore.
The goal is to sell out of the tickets and bring in more than $40,000 this year.
“The prize list for the fundraiser has created a lot of excitement, with the “Buy a Duck, Win a Truck” promotion according to Timber Browning Resource Development and Marketing Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County. “The first event for this year’s Duck Derby was one of the most successful kickoffs we ever had. And we credit that with the promotion of the 2- year lease of a Ford F-150 4X4 Pick-up. We are hoping to sell out of ducks this year, and if sales continue the way they are we can do it. The truck is the biggest prize; however, several more prizes are being offered.”
More than $4,500 was raised during the kick-off event.

The first duck to cross the finish line will win a choice between either a two-year lease or $4,000 thanks to both Bedford Ford and Hoosier Hills Credit Union. The last duck to cross the finish line will win a Fall Break Trip.
Following the 10,000 duck race, 100 more ducks will venture down the slide at Thornton Pool. Those ducks will be selling for $100 each. In that race, the first duck to cross the finish line will win $2,500, Second Place is $500, and Third place $100. Fifty of those ducks have been purchased.
