Dortha Alice Cooper, 101, of Mitchell, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Indiana University Health Paoli Hospital.
Born August 20, 1917, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Wesley and Edith (Swafford) Thompson. She married J. Paul Cooper June 7, 1947, and he preceded her in death on October 31, 1981.
Dortha was a homemaker. She was a member of Spice Valley Baptist Church and a former member of Mitchell Senior Citizens and Spice Valley Homemakers Club. Dortha loved caring for her flowers.
Survivors include her children, Mary Lane of Cross City, Florida, Tom (Rebecca) Cooper of Mitchell; 17 grandchildren
26 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews
Her parents; husband; daughters, Wanda Pearl Arnold Bultman, Helen Irene Houser; and siblings, Pearl Buchanan, Jasper Thompson, John Thompson, Don Thompson, Homer Thompson, Robert Thompson, James Milton Thompson, Andrew Thompson, and Hazel Thompson, preceded her in death.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Spice Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.

Robert T. Hollars – Bedford

Robert T. Hollars, 53, of Bedford, died at 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at his residence.
Born January 9, 1966, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Terry and Martha (Craig) Hollars. He married Skyla Sproles
on September 27, 1991, and she survives. He was a belt saw operator at Indiana Cut Stone. He attended the
Mitchell Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include his wife, Skyla, of Bedford; his mother, Martha Craig Hollars, of Bedford; two brothers Ron Hollars
and Rick Hollars, and wife, Andrea, of Bedford; his mother-in-law, Charlotte Sproles, of Bedford; a brother-in-law,
Dave Sproles, of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his father, Terry Hollars, and grandfather, Orville “Doc” Hollars.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 27th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Steve Jones and Pastor Don McNabb officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday, April 27th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
