Geotechnical Crews Active On State Road 37 North Of Martinsville

(MARTINSVILLE) – Geotechnical survey crews will be active on both northbound and southbound SR 37 north of Martinsville from Tuesday, April 9 through Friday, April 19.

Three drilling rigs will be taking more than 150 soil and pavement samples between Morgan Street and Ennis Road, a stretch of just under 5 miles.
Motorists on both northbound and southbound SR 37 should expect short-term lane restrictions north of Martinsville over the next ten days. Shoulder and lane closures are needed for the safety of drilling crews and to accommodate the movement of drilling rigs.
Geotechnical surveys are an important part of I-69 Section 6 pre-construction activity. Geotechnical investigations include soil borings, sampling, testing, and engineering analysis to inform suitable and economical foundation design.
Some geotechnical work on this segment of I-69 Section 6 is weather dependent, and the boring schedule is subject to change. Motorists are encouraged to drive without distractions and to be aware of changing traffic conditions on SR 37 north of Martinsville.
