One Week Left To File Your Individual Taxes For 2019

(UNDATED) – The Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR) reminds taxpayers of the 2019 individual tax filing deadline is exactly one week away – April 15, 2019.

“Seven days is still plenty of time to file,” stated DOR Commissioner Adam Krupp. “Customers can file electronically to save time and receive a quicker refund if one is due, or they can file a paper return.”
Paper tax returns require a postmarked date of April 15, 2019, to be considered on time. Electronic filing can be submitted online any time before April 16, including through the Indiana Freefile program (INfreefile).
INfreefile offers qualified individuals with an adjusted gross income of $66,000 or less in 2018 several options for filing both their state and federal taxes for free. All vendor options and qualifications for INfreefile can be found online at www.freefile.dor.in.gov.
Still not going to be able to file by the deadline? File an extension with DOR or the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
“Remember, if an extension is granted, it only extends the time a customer has to file, not the amount of time to pay taxes owed. Customers are still required to pay taxes owed by April 15, 2019, to avoid penalties and fees,” Commissioner Krupp observed.
For additional information, customers may call DOR Customer Service at 317-232-2240, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. EST.
