Man Arrested After 26-Mile Chase

(LOOGOOTEE) – A Lynnville man was arrested after a 26-mile pursuit through two counties on Thursday.


Police arrested 27-year-old Casey Skelton after he refused to pull over for a traffic stop on US 231 in Loogootee.
Police say the pursuit traveled down US 231 at speeds of up to 85 miles an hour.
Skelton avoided stop sticks near Haysville in Dubois County and turned onto State Road 56. The chase continued to the community of Cuzco where Skelton crashed into a ditch while attempting to turn onto Cuzco Road.
Police say Skelton was tased at the crash site by a Dubois County deputy when Skelton put a knife to his own throat and refused commands to drop it.
Skelton was arrested after being medically evaluated on charges of possession of meth, criminal reckless, reckless driving, possession of a legend drug, resisting arrest with a vehicle and resisting arrest with a deadly weapon.
Loogootee Police was assisted by troopers with Indiana State Police, Martin County Sheriff’s Department deputies, Dubois County Sheriff’s Department deputies, and Indiana Conservation Officers.
