Boilermakers Cruise To Victory In First Round Of NCAA Tournament

(HARTFORD, CT) – The Purdue Boilermakers jumped out to a big first half lead and never looked back as they knocked off Old Dominion 61-48 to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Carsen Edwards broke out of his shooting slump and led Purdue with a game-high 26 points to go with seven rebounds.
“He hasn’t shot a high percentage this year, yet he won the Big Ten Player of the Year and we got a 3 seed,” Boilermakers head coach Matt Painter said. “Ultimately, that’s what your goal is. He’s one of those guy you can feel get out of shooting funks.”
Matt Haarms added 13 points while the 14th-seeded Monarchs were led by Ahmad Carver’s 19 points.
Purdue will take on reigning NCAA champion Villanova on Saturday.
