(INDIANAPOLIS) – Indiana’s minimum wage won’t be going up anytime soon.
State lawmakers last week rejected an amendment to the state budget that aimed to raise the minimum wage to $8.50.
State Representative Cherrish Pryor says Indiana is lagging behind other states. The minimum wage has not increased since 2008, all other states except Kentucky’s minimum wage are higher.
For now, the minimum wage for Hoosiers will stay at $7.25 an hour.
Pryor says that’s not nearly enough to care for a family.
