Bloomington Police Department Hiring Certified Law Enforcement Officers

(BLOOMINGTON) – The Bloomington Police Department is looking to fill several positions from a certified-only hiring process due to upcoming retirements and current vacancies.


This hiring process is reserved for those individuals who have previously been certified as a law enforcement officer.

Please visit bloomington.in.gov/police/employment to submit an application and register for the physical and written examination that will take place on March 9, 2019, at 8 a.m.
Testing:
The testing process will be held at the Public Safety Training Center located at 3230 S. Walnut Street, Bloomington, Indiana. Applicants will be required to pass the current “exit standards” of ILEA and will be given a standardized written aptitude test. The running portion of the physical test will be conducted outside at nearby Bloomington High School South.

  • The current ILEA exit standards are:
  • Push-ups: 25 (no time limit)
  • Sit-ups: 29 (one minute)
  • Vertical Jump: 16 inches
  • 300 Meter Run: 71 seconds
  • 1.5 Mile Run: 16 minutes 28 seconds

The department accepts applications from certified and non-certified applicants year round. Non-certified individuals are welcome to submit an application which will be kept on file for the next open hiring process.
