Sullivan City Hall Evacuated When Buildings Collapse

(SULLIVAN) – Sullivan City Hall and nearby residents were evacuated as part of the buildings collapsed yesterday afternoon.

No one was injured during the incident.
Just after noon, Sullivan City Police noticed a telephone pole in the alley behind John Bodine’s law office had fallen. At the base of the pole was a pile of bricks that had fallen from the corner of the Bodine’s Law office.
Sullivan Fire Department Chief Rob Robertson said Bodine’s law office, a beauty salon and city hall were evacuated as a precaution after worries of structural integrity.
Robertson said authorities haven’t been able to determine if the wall collapsed forcing the pole over, or if the pole had been attached to the building and pulled the bricks out when it fell.
He said a building inspector from Indianapolis has been called and will determine if the building is sound.
